Police Entrance Level Training Program (PELTP)

The Police Entrance-Level Training Program (PELTP) is a course of instruction for members of small and medium sized police agencies. The PELTP curriculum incorporates state-of-the-art technology to enhance the learning environment for students with a strong emphasis on scenario-based learning throughout training with the use of virtual reality and drone footage. The PELTP was conceived and designed as an affordable and accessible alternative for those smaller municipalities that are seeking an academically innovative and adult learning-based approach. Entrance to this program is offered to students who have met the minimum standards for Provisional Police Officer Certification (COMAR 12.04.01.03) and have been hired by a Maryland police agency.

An outstanding academic feature of the PELTP is the opportunity for graduates to obtain college credits from the Community College of Baltimore County at no cost to them. Contact mpctc.dpscs@maryland.gov for more information.
